Community Councillors Needed

Thornton Community Council have two vacancies that we would like to fill.

Published: 25 February 2024

Thornton Community Council can have 11 Elected Members, currently we only have 9.

Being a community councillor is an important and rewarding role, but needn’t be onerous on your time.  Thornton Community Council formally meet once a month for around 2 hours to discuss our ongoing business and any new issues or projects that are developing.  In addition to this, you may spend some time working on specific actions you’ve volunteered to take forward.

Anyone aged 16 or over who lives within the Thornton Community Council boundary can be a community councillor for our area.

We’d like to hear from anyone in our community who is interested in joining, but we’d be particularly be keen to hear from younger people (16-35ish) to ensure views from across the community’s age demographic are represented.

Membership also gives an opportunity to develop you communication style which could help with future career aspirations.

If you’d like to find out more, drop us a line at enquiries@thorntoncommunitycouncil.gov.uk or come along to our next meeting on 6th March at 7pm.

Some more information about the purpose and work of community councils can be found on the Scottish Community Councils website and Fife Council’s website.
