“We don’t care what the weather man says……” Party in the Park 2025…. Done!
Thornton Hibs and Thornton Community Council came together again yesterday to hold our second "Party in the Park".
Published: 8 June 2025
Despite the forecast, around 450 friends and residents got together for another fun packed day in Thornton Hibs football ground.
A brief shower or two didn’t interrupt the day too much until the heavens opened at around 3.45 when we started Party in the Pavillion!
Again, this year the Middle Balbeggie wind farm community fund in collaboration with Foundation Scotland provided the financial backing for our great family day out.
We had a number of things going on this year, including:
- Inflatables – supplied by The Bouncy Castle Man
- Catering provided by B @ Mad Mac’s
- Ice cream provided by Mr. Softy Fife
- We provided every child with a goody bag and free ice cream!
- The Tullis Russell Mills Band assembled to entertain us
- DJ Stu playing the latest hits
- An hour with Gavin Patrick
- Games galore for the kids (the rain got in the way of the adults!)
- Afternoon Tea was served in the Pensioners hut, supplied by Thornton Bowling Club and their dedicated helpers.
- First Aid coverage by Advanced First Aid Perth
Thanks to Cook’s again for dealing with our waste disposal free of charge!
Thank you to everyone who generously donated to our tombola. Between that, football cards, donation buckets and contributions from our stall holders, we raised £545.33 which will go directly toward future events.
The organising committee this year consisted of Mark Bruce, Tracy-Anne Bruce & Angela Glancey (Thornton Hibs) and Sal Henderson & Euan Ross (Thornton Community Council).
The day wouldn’t have been possible without all the helpers who assembled. These were, in no particular order:
Thornton Hibs: DJ Stuart Gray, Mark Bruce, Tracy-Anne Bruce, Angela Glancey, Ricky Smith, Trisha Smith, John Laing
Thornton Community Council: Jean Laird, Euan Ross, Christine Ross, Ray Duncan, Sal Henderson, Gordon McLay, Lyn Murray
Community Volunteers: Karen Follen, Hayley Ross, Ang Pat, Ewan McNab, Margaret Curran, Christine Wilson
It was great to see so many people from our community come together to have some fun.
We’ve included some photos of the day, but more can be found on the Thornton Hibs website.
